This publication, in the form of a book with scores and CD-Audio, tries to fill the gap that ignorance, added to forgetfulness, could have made permanent. The life and work of Antonio Chover Salom (1922-2014) is one of those paradigmatic examples that make it necessary to recover Spanish musical heritage, starting with the figures of the most recent culture of our country. The purpose of this work is to return to the collective memory the commitment of a composer who chose the guitar as one of the most expressive means to transmit to us his sound universe, the result of a specific era and society.
Antonio Chover was committed to his native Tavernes de la Valldigna (Valencia) through the cultural revitalization of the town in the post-war period and through the study of the region's folklore, which he published with the musicological project of his teacher, Manuel Palau. After obtaining a composition degree at the Valencia Conservatory, he obtained a position as Director of the Military Band of Cádiz, a city to which he was linked for more than 40 years. There he taught guitar, harmony and composition classes and maintained a special relationship with the “Manuel de Falla” Conservatory, which awarded him the Gold Medal in 1989 without being part of its faculty in
no moment.
